This is as close as I can find- $289.99. You might have to put the hole in it yourself. Or repair yours and have it revinyled. It depends on how bad it is.

I'll try to get a photo tomarrow. It's to dark to be pawing around with a screwdriver on my dash tonight. The only think I see on the front is a little bit of silicon, I see no real damage but, the backside of the dash should have a round area type fiberglass mount where the ignition switch tightness up to and stays on. This round area apprears missing or just busted off. The damage I suspect should be backside and easy to repair but, I may still need to know how to revinyl it my self.

How do you get the sheet automotive vinyl and what kind of glue?
Would these be questions I should ask my local Custom Auto Shop?

You can get the vinyl at a fabric store (at least all of them around here have the vinyl, pleather, headliner material and seat cloth). You can also get it at a upholstery wholesaler... but those aren't always open to the public. There is a 3M Spray adhesive that you can use... but ask at the store that you buy the vinyl, they can always tell you the best way to use the products they sell.

One good thing about bothering a upholstery wholesaler is that they probably can just give you the piece you need... it's probably just sitting in their scrap pile.

Heres a suggestion.
There is a company called Dr. Vinyl.
They have a website and franchises everywhere.
I have had stuff repaired by them and they have done an excellent job. They fix burn holes in seats and all kinds of stuff.
Free estimates.
Way yonder easier than a recover job.
That red dash will fit, but not correct, you must relocate the ignition switch.
When you are looking for that color you call limited edition.
You should ask for 1982 Collector's Edition. That will make it easier when looking for mixing colors and parts.

Thanks for the info Randy

As far as the 1982 Collector's Edition interior, I remember the Silver
and the Gold but I've seen alot more silver ones than I ever see the
Gold ones.

So would I call it the 1982 Collector's Edition Gold interior? Thats one
thing I've had a problem in locating. I've seen the magazines, Ads and
websites for Corvette interior restoration and always I see the Silver
interior but not the Gold...

hmmmm

I agree on all the input for dash repair. I have an interior guy that works for me. I go in and use his material. There are different kings of vinyl.1 type stretches 1 way. kind of neat. He has some glue that sprays with a gun. It comes out like snot. Works great. Any GOOD interior shop should be able to help. I'll ask him if that is something he can do. I have actually made parts out of fiberglass and grained them to look like vinyl, then dyed them to match the interior. Its pretty cool when you see it.Looks real.

I was looking for a photo of Bill Mitchell standing between two Sharks
and at lest one of them has a Odd shapped roof like a raised box.

Appearantly that box on the roof is a periscope, for rear view.
Very interesting to find this out, I would have liked to have seen that
in action or more photos and details about it.
