thanks for keeping this site moving. Motivation means more work done on my cars.
I have been in contact with Shawkrider and he says he is going to start posting on the board. Hope so....

Aside from the damage, the body appears to be in pretty good shape. It's kind of hard to tell from the photos, but did your shark have latches on the rear sides of the hood? Mine used to, but they had been removed before I bought the car.

Yeah, unlike some of these others that come here, sign up
post a few messages, then disappears forever, im sticken
around. I have been back logging all the old school posts
from 02 to 04 to catch up on anything I've missed out on,
and have left a few messages on the older posts that in
likes, someone will go back over there older posts and see
my inquires.

I just can't get enough of this Site and continue to learn
more and more on a daily bases. I spend about 3 to 5 hours
a day on this site monitoring all the recent posts as well
and trys to help at any chance I get. I mean I've got this
Site as my Home Page for crying out loud!!! Lol

I admit, I also have my own agenda, trying to collect all
the data I can get, so I can perfect my car once I've
started and in doing so, im better equipt to help others
when they have questions.

I don't truely think im doing my part with the forum, unless
I study it, find out what works, know where to find parts,
and know the people, so that I may better assest them.

It's the only way I can think of to give back to David for
providing such a great site and to the many members that
are active and continue to help others trying to perfect
there Maco Sharks. Be it I have to spend some time with some
trying to promote productivity, but in the long run, thier
success is not just my gain, but everybody elses as well!

bjarvis,

first, sorry it took so long for me to reply. I appalagize.

Latches? No, the dolt that owned it before me, drilled big holes
in the side and put key locks on each side. This upset me.
I don't want key locks on my body. I don't even have hood latches
on the inside of the hood for it to make a connection with the
firewalls to lock it into place. You know, where otherwise, you can
pull a switch from inside and your hood pops open.

Wish I did but when I start my project, I will do so and get rid
of the tacky body key locks.

How this answers your question.

I've noticed that Red seems to be a pretty common
color for the Macos when they where first built.

However, in the inside of the doors when I take off
the door panles I see a champaign matalic burgundy.

I didn't think this was a standard color for the 68
Stingrays?

Is it just me or do the peddles in the
stingrays even Maco's seem a little to
high off the floor board. I mean, I have
to lift my whole foot up off the floor
to brake and shift when otherwise, the
heel stays planted on the floor and all
you have to do is turn your foot from
side to side. This is a big pain in the
ass to have to lift the foot and hold it
in mid-air.

Is there anything that can be done about
this? Maybe a custom extension welded
job is the answer.

Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks for getting back to me. Some times I go for a week or so before I get back into the site, so I'm not always so timely myself when it comes to answering messages. I agree that latches and locks on the sides kind of suck, even though it was kind of trendy in the 70's. The previous owner of my shark installed conventional under hood latches, then removed the outside latches but left holes that I'll have to patch when I get into stripping all of the old paint off. The original color was a light metallic blue, then it had a very thick layer of what's called black purple, which is blistered and cracked in places. I'm thinking of painting it maroon, but still not sure. Right now I'm focusing on rebuilding the 454. As far as your pedals being high, mine feel pretty normal. Never could operate the clutch in any car with my heel on the floor board though. You must have sizeable feet my friend.

Take care,

Bob

When you get around to putting the hood latches
on your Maco, keep me in the loop please. I need
to do the same for mine.

I've always been able to clutch with my heel on
the floor board. I have a size 12 foot, but when
it came to the Maco, I found it highly odd that I
had to hold my foot up in mid-air to clutch & brake.

I want to figure out some way to fix this, due to it
being more comfortable for me to have my heel on the
floor then, to strain my leg to hold my foot up. I mean
if you can press the accelerator without lifting your
foot, why isn't it the same for the clutch & brake?

I have a 97 Firebird where I don't have this problem.
I can reach all peddels without my heels ever needing
to leave the floor board.

Well you know what they said about big feet? LOL!

Keep me posted with your progress, I'll be happy to
help in any way I can. And stay regular with the site.
You never know what you'll learn next, and sometimes
it's so often, that if you don't keep regular, theirs
a $hit load to catch up with.

Lets keep it for rizal up in this piece.

Been very quite lately...

What! nobodies got any new down low to share?

For the past few days, it's been like a grave
yard around here, like somebody stepped on
someones grave. I mean DAMN people!
wheres all the good Mako Chatter at?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have just finnished my first week of basic
AutoCAD at ACC here in Austin. When I'm finnished
I'm hoping to start the Technical Illustration
class, so I can create 3D designs and learn the
CNC Mill so I can create some Ideas I've had
for quit some time.

A four axis machine should be a good start on a
6 foot table for each section.

I want to take Intro to Welding TIG & MIG
and an Arts Metal class so I can be prepared

I am hoping to start building some kits of
prototype vehicles that I believe should have
made it to the production line.

The Mako's and a Stingray III at the top of my list!

I know, wishful thinking.

David, any suggestions?
