dreamer I'll be stripping my hood next weekend and maybe decide then. The dips don't seem to flow as smoothly as the other body lines. If they were slanted into the srounding hood smoothly, kinda' like an ogee into the front of the scoop.Maybee we should raise the spoiler.I cant help it!Every time I see something I would improve.Dammit' I probably need to leave it pretty much alone and screw up something else.I wish I had the room/money/time,to design and build a whole new one.I got some info. on large molds, have any of you pulled a mold as large as the hood? All the stuff I've done is small. The co. I used to get supplies from closed years ago,so thats another thing.

in days of better health I have worked with a dude who built a whole c4 'vert body to use on a veedub pan,
my health wont allow me to make a mold bigenough to make a crash helmet for a fruit fly right now...
Cheers, T.

I know this thread is a few years old, but I humbly admit to knowing more about the CS movie cars than probably anyone else on the planet. If anyone has a question about the cars, feel free to ask. I am also the first person to ever create a screen-accurate replica. Since molds were required to make the light-weight one-piece body panels, I have sold about 5 sets to carefully chosen people. By the end of 2007 or 2008 there should be a few high-quality replicas running around, and a couple of those are bound to get some media or internet attention. If you care to follow the process of my paint, click on the web site of the shop that is doing the finishing work: http://www.performancerestorations.com/csinprocesspics.html or check back at my web site address for a site that is in development which will have tons of never-been-seen-before content. That site is http://www.corvettesummer.net.

In case you are curious, I was able to track down the only known remaining mold in the world, which was for the hood scoop section only. I acquired it and had shipped to me from Australia. It was created from the original "primary" movie car in 1983 after that car was nearly destroyed in a transport accident.

Thanks guys. I appreciate that. I wasn't sure if this thread was still "alive", since the last entry was a few years ago.

All I can say is that I have a much greater respect for anyone who starts a serious street rod project, and does their best to hang in there. I am approaching my 6th year now, and if I wasn't so close to being done I probably would have considered throwing in the towel.

If you checked out the Performance Restoration web site, those are some of the most current pics. Body work is done; car is prepped and ready for paint. I am going down there this week to insert lenses and discuss final paint strategy. I'm looking forward to getting some paint on this thing after all this effort.

Once the car is done, I will put all of my content together for what should be a spectacular Corvette Summer web site. I'm looking forward to that too, but want to wait until the car is done so I can include finished pics.

I just recieved a pic of a post card from the CORVETTE AMERICANNA Hall of FAME in Cooperstown NY. with the Corvette Summer car on it. Bill sent 3 of them to me. I sent them to Randy for posting. 1 is the Death Race 2000 car,2nd is the Corvette Summer car and the 3rd is my Mako coupe. All three were displayed at the museum when it was closed in 99.

Okay, here's something you're sure to have never seen before. It's a newspaper article from 1983 with photos showing the CS car and replica shop teacher's suburban that plowed into a lake off the highway. This is one of the earliest verifiable sources that prove that the primary movie car went to Australia. Up until a few years ago when I began my research, there were only rumors about what happened to the other car. I have since gathered documentation that supports perhaps more of the history of the primary car in Australia, than the backup car that is here in the US.

Yes, that's a crane lifting the transport truck out of the lake, and a diver getting ready to plunge in the second photo.
