"corvette summer"

Lets talk about the corvette that played a huge part in my obsession in customs the Corvette summer movie car,
I have heard all kinds of stories thru the years and they are just that stories, I am hunting magazine stories or ads or pictures......
I have been told there was only the one I have been told there were 3, I have been told Korky who made the car did sell body kits and or parts, I have never in all my magazines or shows seen a single part.....or clone car
The most plausible "story" I have heard is the car is a one off, the only one is the one in the movie now owned by mid-America I've read the net story the speed channel had up, it didn't tell much. When it's gold in the movie that's simply the base coat for the candy red flake it ended up being, they film out of sequence....
So....anyone have any magazine stories, ads or car show pictures that point to others?
I have seen Vanacors "corvette summer" hood, it's doesn't look much like it.....I believe myself Korky used an Ecklers tilt front end with recessed lights, cut the buckets that make it look more pointed,....if not Ecklers tilt then a stock front end.... then the scoop the center part was sold even by JC Whitney years back and called an "Indy wing or wedge scoop" Korky added the ducts to that and the scoop is not molded into the hood....

T.

Here is a picture of me driving the car.
It was in Carlisle a few years ago. I believe that I posted it
before, I just can't remember it.
The car is kinda crude, and really not comfortable for a fat boy like me to drive. Mid America was kind enough to let me fool with it a little. They said that there were 2 cars, one running and one not. I really think there is only one. It is now in pretty rough shape. It no longer had the moon roofs, but had late model glass tops on it. This doesn't help much, but its the best I can do...

Randy,Do you know where the car is now? How long ago was this taken? I use to think it was a mako but was told it was a one of,also that they did film the gold then painted it red to save paint/money .The budget for some of these indys were grab&growl.Anyway thanks for the pic, thisis the first i've seen in years.

Dreamer , re-read my first post on this thread for answers to many of your questions, if you look at it compared to a mako front clip and then an Ecklers front clip it's easy to see that Korky used a stock or Ecklers tilt front end....
I always thought the gold color in the movie didn't look right and I believe it's from it being base coat for the candy flake red...
Cheers, T.

There is another Corvette Summer Car. I was ask not to tell the Location of the car by the owner. The 2nd car is disassembled. not sure about the engine etc. A friend of mine has seen the car 200 times. Before I told him what it was, he would not look twice at it.

Motion, I mean no disrespect but like I said in my first post I have heard all kinds of stories since the movie came out, like I asked in the first post I need pictures or magazine ads, I'm not saying I don't believe you I simple have to see proof,
Like Randy behind the wheel....
For example a person I know who is in the Vette business for the last 30+ years told me of a Mako front clip he was 100% sure,
I saw the clip it was a remodeled GT-40 front clip to fit a c3,
I'm not saying a mistake is the case here I simply posted this thread in hopes of dismissing rumors not starting new ones,
The red metal flake car in other of my replies in this thread is sometimes called the CSC even by vette-files
Again no offense meant but for me I need to see it...
I admire Doctor Karl Segan, who said, "Extraordinary claims require Extraordinary proof"
a picture could be shown that would not disclose any whereabouts on the car itself....Harry did that with a mako he has interest in....
The other thing is I'm talking about a true CSC built by Korky not a copy which I could easily do with an Ecklers tilt front end,,,,

Cheers, T.

The car is at a Corvette Shop.. I will get the name of the shop tomorrow. A guy that works at our shop lived in the state for 10 years where the car is located and looked at the car a lot. He went back to visit this past summer, and ask about the car. They took him in the back and there it was. They ran him off when he wanted to get a pic, This shop built Herman The Monsters Car. HE SAID? I ask if they built the Corvette Summer Car? He was not sure. And about my post, there is no problem with disputing me. Most people LOVE IT when people dispute people!! As they say it sells papers!

I'm pleased you took my post as I meant it,
It's well know that Barris and or his shop/people built the Munsters cars, who knows why a shop wouldn't want it know they had a custom vette or in this case custom vette parts...I did get ran out of a shop once for looking at a couple kit cars I have no idea why nor can I comment on why the shop was shut down soon after that, ...it's not like there's millions of vette freaks wanting the CSC, in fact post about it on any other vette forum and you get a zillion jack asses saying it's the ugliest vette ever made....if a person wants to see it they can go to mid America in fact they might go on the right day and get to sit in it as Randy did....
I spoke in emails to this man about 2+ years ago...
http://www.geocities.com/universalcoachworks/nostalgia.html
He's a friend of Korkys and at the time I talked to him told me I could buy a CSC kit.....
It appears he has been around some amazing cars and people,
basically I would still like to see pictures until then I believe the CSC is a one off...
Cheers All,
T.

From that link:

"Corvette Summer"-Either of the two existing right-hand-drive 73 Corvette Stingrays custom built by Richard Korkes at Korky's Custom Studios in Van Nuys, California for the Mark Hamill and Annie Potts film "Corvette Summer". One of these cars is reported to be in the Los Angeles area of California. The other car was sold to the Corvette Americana Museum in Cooperstown, New York. This museum went out of business in late 1997 and the cars have subsequently disappeared.

Mid America Designs (MAD) has the Cooperstown one.
