"Shorties door jam..."
Jun-09-05, 07:35 PM (EDT)
LAST EDITED ON Jun-09-05 AT 07:41 PM (EDT)

Randy if you could help me out, i need to better understand the door jams of the Shorty. How it's shaped inside where the door meets
the short tail. Photos of the back of the door and it's jam would be greatly appreciated. I wan't to see how it's built or if it's even
reproducible on say like my Mako or any other C3..

I don't own a Shorty but would like to come up with a built template so that it could be fabricated onto an OEM jam like the rest of our's.

Provided is a photo of the area that i need a look inside of so i can figure out how it works. As well as weather stripping placement and if
this makes the interior cabin any noisier while driving.

Thanks for any help on this issue and, if their is anything else you can think of to add, please do so.

Thanks again.

I will try to take some detailed photos this weekend of the area.
The stock weatherstripping is used, the actual door jamb itself is not modified. The wheel opening is molded onto the door itself.
When I take pics, you will know more about it.
Should have them up by monday.
Anytime I can help I will.

I appreciate it Randy, I've been curious about this for quite some time, just hadn't asked you about it yet. Thanks for the help.

I think we are all curious about that... as it is a big difference from all the others.

I believe that even on a Stingray the short tail would look good, even if it's not a Mako.

I thought I asked Randy about this when he first got the car. It looked wierd + I asked if they shortened the door or modified the jam. He told me then, that the jam was original. Good luck Bryan..

I believe that the door is the original size Scott, it's just that it
has a longer skin on it to extend to the rear clip as well as a small
section of the rear slightly modified for the door skin to run flush.

Your right- I think the flare is connected to the rear of the door, then cut + fitted to look right with the rear fender. Kind of funny looking, but it will grow on me.

Well that's how the concept car looks and does it look funny to you?
The way i take it is that the concept car is how the production car
should have looked so naturally converting it back to a short tail
should look proper.
