Damn, Andy.... so sorry to hear that. I have a classic rock band called GMS (Gran Mal Seizure); two of the members are my oldest friends and both have epilepsy. They have both had to deal with similar driving restrictions. Sorry you have to deal with that on top of everything else...best wishes. Bro' FF

LAST EDITED ON Aug-22-14 AT 02:48 AM (EDT) Andy- looks like we have something in common. I have epilisey. Had seizures for years as a teenager and throughout my 20,s. Got to the point where I would keep a diary about what I was eating, what time they occuried, what activities I did prior and after a while I noticeded a pattern. Lack of water intake, very little rest and 95% of them occuried in the morning. I was also able to detect a few warning signs. Make a long story short I was on dilatin and phenobarbotol for years and honestly I dont think those medications helped me any. Anyhow I went years without a major seizure by using my self plan. If I felt a symptom coming on I would go back and rest for 4-6 more hours. I made sure I drank more water,to get oxygen to my brain..lol and no long late hours. Well needless to say I begun pushing the envelope, working longer shifts at work and about a year ago it caught up with me. I had a seizure in the parking lot bumping into another car. and a few weeks later another sitting at the computer at work so yes my liscened were pulled by my doctor as well. I had to now catch a cab to work but a nice co worker would bring me home. I was recommended this specialist and she told me there was 6 new medications I could try. The first one, I didnt like, made my speech slurred and I still felt the symptoms coming on , so we switched to deprakote-2x a day- 3 pills each time and now I am seizure free. Not a symptom and I even worked several days with long hours and still not a symptom. I am so happy now and get to return to driving my daytona and my tiger shark. I hope and pray you are able to find a good doctor. My biggest fear was always wrecking and hurting someone else. Cars can be fixed and replaced but lives are priceless. richard
