"Picked this up this weekend"
Feb-09-10, 02:37 AM (EDT)
Scored this weekend. Looks to all be there including a full width grill that covers the headlights and is in pretty good shape considering its age. Has been in storage for the last 11 years. Was removed from a Mako that was rear ended. Is there any way to tell whether this may be a Silva, Motion or Bohannon?

Also will be looking to purchase a filler panel for where the wiper door would normally have been. This will be going on a 74.

Would appreciate any info regarding the headlights and how to tell who may have manufactured this nose. Thank you!

Welcome aboard Mark!!! Looks like you are on your way to building a Mako...glad to see another front clip surface. Keep your eyes on this site for parts to help you out, especially a rear clip. A few guys are experimenting with front hindges to replace the early Chevy ones you have. Use some spare time to search the forums here for ideas.

Good to see another car project in the NW. Where in Tacoma are you from? The reason I ask is that I make a road trip to Tacoma about every 2 years and will put you on my list to visit.

Again, Welcome to the site and hope you have many fun hours working on your project!!!

BTW Mark, if you have the center grill for that '74,
I would be interested in buying it from you.
Looking for one for my '73 Widebody. Marv

Welcome Mark.
It is nearly impossible to tell who made what, being that so many people were making these things, or variations, back in the day.
Motion was one that used the "short hood" set up that required you to use your existing wiper tray set up on 68-72 cars.
Many people graft a 73 and up hood to the old style nose clips to eliminate the wiper mess. Silva had a piece that fit in there... but I have not seen one for sale.
Good luck with your project and keep us informed.
Welcome to the site!

"Randy"

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. Very excited about this project. Have already spent lots of hours reading on this site. Seems like people are very nice here. Used to have a Typhoon and was over on the SyTy site. People over there... not so nice.

I am also a diehard Corvette Summer fan and it is nice to see it accepted here rather than bashed.

Nice find, welcome!

I'm south of you in Vancouver. Been working on mine for almost a year now... takes time.

Shoot me an email to say hello, and stop by when you're in my neck of the woods.

Hello to all. My plans for this are a different headlight/grill treatment, Camaro "ice cube trays" on top of the hood scoop. For the rear I will be reworking the rear fascia to more resemble the concept's style but I will not be changing the stock rear window and sail panels. Never cared much for the concept's tapered window treatment. Also adding 68/69 gills to the sides behind the front wheels as well as factory 69 side pipes. Color will be a custom mix orange similar to the GM Sunburst Orange pearl. Wheels will be 17" TT2.
