"looking to purchase mako"
Dec-06-06, 00:43 AM (EDT)
I just joined the site. I'm glad to see I'm not alone in my love for the Shark. I live in N.C.. I had a 1971 Mako. I sold it in the early 90s. I've been mourning the loss ever since. If I can't find one, I guess I'll have to have one built. I'm glad I found you guys. When I had mine, I had to explain to everyone who saw it what it was, and give them a brief history of Corvette Concept Cars. Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the warm welcome.
I've got a few pics somewhere. I'll see if I can dig them up.
I would like to find a completed car if possible, with air. My first Mako was very hot in the summer.

Thanks for the pic Randy.

Pacrat, Send me the details on the car, and what you need to get for it. Plus where it's located. It looks like what I need. Very sharp

Welcome Randy (I assume). There are a couple for sale usually here. I wish you luck finding one. Just be carefull of what you get- even nice ones have some ugly inside, covered by pretty stuff. In other words, it might be nice on the outside, but check for rot, as some here have found later. Again, welcome

Thanks "car guy" Thats good advice I will follow. I'm sure I will find a car that I'll be proud to own. It may take awhile, I don't know. I do know that finding this community of Shark lovers is the next best thing to owning one.

Randy

No problem- welcome to the family. We are here to give as much help on everything we can. Between the 'group' we have probably enough knowledge to help GM build another one. We cover just about everything you could possibly wonder about, so keep posting, and ask away. As said before- there are a couple here for sale that are pretty hot. Take it from me-(and probably most here), buy one almost done, otherwise, you will probably never get it done, or be completely broke after.

I think it is a matter of what you want. If you buy a car done, and want to change a bunch of stuff on it, then buy one and have it built your way. You are limited only by resources and time.
Some of us do not have the resources to buy a completed car and must work on rusted, busted, junkers with the hope of someday, getting the car that we want. If you have to get most of your work outsourced, then it could be cost prohibitive to build your own.
Pacrats car looks to be complete and ready.
Tony Ta sold his yellow car and it looked good, but the new owner found many things wrong.
I sold my short tail car and Rick found a bunch of rust in the windshield frame that neither one of us knew was there.
Its all a game my friend, advice here is free, I dont know how correct it will be, but free nonetheless.

"Randy"
