"Maco Streamliner"
Jun-03-13, 05:47 PM (EDT)
Starting a new thread as the old one was getting large.
Work is again progressing on the mako wagon, aka the streamliner.
The rear is now in primer. There are small changes which you may notice. No door handles or locks. Side marker lamps removed. Rear gas filler smoothed and flushed. The front is now opening and closing as it should. Not using my hinges, as I dont have time to get them on before Carlisle. With 80 days left, I am not sure the car will make it, but I will bring the ragged can am instead.
Also I have decided to extend my stock mirrors instead of spending tons of money trying to find ones that MIGHT work and would look doofy. Time will tell if this will do the trick.
Thats about as far as I have progressed. I have had a little help, this is why I am behind schedule... when he leaves, I have to re do almost everything he has done.... he doesnt have but about a year and a half left on this earth, so it really doesnt matter.
onward and upward!

"Randy"

May i say it Randy ?

Your wagoon looks 1000nd times better with the Mako front.
When finished really will pop out over all other wagoons.

Great work.
Robert

I agree with Robert... never was a fan of the wagon kit, but as a "Mako Streamliner" it's got serious appeal; well done.

Looking forward to the finished product!

Its a custom that actually has some function... lots of room in the back.
Cut slots yesterday for the front turn signals and began the massive task of sanding the urethane primer.
Thanks for the positive comments..... I think

And don't forget, there is also a Bohannon Maco Shark parked in the corner of the garage awaiting its turn for restoration.

Randy,
with your skills as fiberglass and painting handyman have you ever thought about doing a frontbumper out of fiberglass.

Would give it even a cooler look.

Am seriously thinking to swap my idea of a aluminum bumper to one in fiberglass.
As anyway have to dive in fiberglass with the rearend it wouldn't be to hard to tear a mould from a carved foam positive.

Greets

this is the look
you nailed it
this makes the rear worth it.
now if we could only vent the radiator thru the hood notches like the spyder.....

That's a thought. The more I progress, the more changes I make. That may prevent this car from making Carlisle, but I will bring my Can Am widebody.
Will be taking a couple of days off from the car, as I have to work for a few days to help the City out.

I am trying to work and also continue with the car.
I am now running into some problems with having my glass replaced on the wagon part. The glass company that first said they would do it is backpeddleing. Just talked to another one yesterday and they said that if I jump through enough hoops they MAY help me out. Running into issues with safetyglass and shatterproof glass.
Meanwhile, Carlisle is looming and I very well may be bringing the back up car.
The road goes on forever and the party never ends!

As time rolls on, I continue the work. Yesterday, I installed the Dakota Digital remote window kit. Instead of going "voice activated" like on the wide body, I opted for the more conventional key fob controller. It took all day to rewire the car to accept this. After all this work, FAIL!!! The main controller for the system is bad. So, now I have to ship it back to South Dakota and wait.... meanwhile I am waiting on my glass man to come and install the side glass and rear glass.
To add another note, Carla is switching her mom to a different nursing home/ retirement center.... this will involve a bunch of moving of furniture etc... guess who gets to spend the week doing this???
Carlisle looms, and looks dimmer and dimmer for the streamliner...
Was going to drive the can am last friday but the battery was dead.
