Hi Guys Nice site! Interesting to see all the variations on these cars. A lot of very talented people on this site! I'm just doing some homework right now...would like to get your opinions on what you think is the best kit out there regarding proportionate likeness and detail to the C3 prototype. I'm also interested to know if any of you have made modifications to your kits and possibly pulled a mold? Thanks Mike

Hi Mike, Welcome in the Mako dungeon. When you go trough the gallery you will recognise that allmost all have some modifications on their Makos. This in the nature of the kit itself, and most likely that many like it custom. For kits i can't give you a advice. All kids are based upon the design from John Silva, his design is based upon the original GM concept of 1965. Steve is actually building up my Mako. He has old moulds, but will make new moulds from his rearend and my frontend. If you want to know more or get in touch with him just folloe the link in my signature. There you can find his data and the build up of my Mako. Greetings Robert http://www.cybergate-corp.ch/mako_clip/

LAST EDITED ON Jan-29-12 AT 03:04 PM (EDT) Thanks Robert...I'll check it out! I'll be more specific in what I'm looking for...I love the personalized custom touches on alot of these Mako's, however, I'm starting a project and we're looking to merely save a little time by starting with a kit that's as close as can be, rather than start from zero. And the modifications I'm interested in are more along the lines of matching the dimensions of the original GM C3 prototype. Non-flared wheel openings with regards to proportionate distance between upper fender charachter lines and wheelhose openings, has anybody tooled the hood scoop metal inserts? lower side metal inserts? Has anybody actually "cloned" the original? I mean as dimensionally exact as the original? With regard to all exterior trim as well...You guys are the authorities when it comes to these cars...I appreciate any and all leads...Thanks

Robert, Holy Candy toner! Somebody put a million hours in that paint job! I'd like to see that car all one color to truely appreciate the detail in the body...And you're right, it looks like they got the overall appearance of the design pretty close. It looks like you have quite an operation going on over there! Your site is impressive as well... Thanks again!

Hey T, Yes, and his poor wife went through a lot of misery.... to get that car to look like the original... the day to day saga! I wish they hadn't dismantled the original for III... at least that is what I think happened Shark II. Our shark is really a beautiful car, and I'm glad that Jim got his dream car! Did anyone chrome their sharks and attach them to their cars? I can't figure out what we should use to attach them to the car, super, super, super sticky double face tape? The car needs the sharks and the script to pull this one off... its all in the details. Its cold up here in the North, so everyone should have a bad case of corvette fever that is wintering up north, we'll see you on the road in a 2-3 of months! (mrs.) fathom427
