Gordy finally sent me pictures of his Mako today. Hopefully we get some pictures of those Mako Shark logos that he teases us about...

Sweet, Is that Purple?
Looks like it! My favorite color,
always wondered that the Maco would
look like painted Purple.

I've always liked bumpers on sharks.
Like the old school wheels too, add a nostalgic look.
Great looking ride!

Yes, I was going to say that as well... REALLY like the bumpers.

That is something else we are going to have to learn how to make.

Updated Mako71's page with higher resolution pictures... They aren't from Gordy... I just used a very nice trick.

More pictures from Gordy... including a couple of closeups of the vinyl Mako Shark II emblem that his daughter made for him.

I noticed that Gordys car has the same rear panel as my Motion car, but the rear flairs are quite different. They stick way out like the ones on the red car. It has the "silva" light treatment.
I guess the more we get into these things, we are finding out more and more that no 2 cars were put together exactly alike.
Nice decals.

Hey guys,
It hard to tell by these pictures but it is a kind of maroon color. It does look kinda purple in certain light. The strange thing is (to me anyway) is that I have seen others this color. The guy I bought the car from went on and on that he just painted it and it is the "right mako shark color". To me the right mako color would be the two tone like the show car. Maybe he meant for a Motion mako???? Another mystery

The front bumper appears to be the stock bumper that had the center of the V notched out so the two ends could be bent inward to make it more pointed. I can see the weld spots. It fits pretty good. I don't think the back bump was changed at all. Unfortunately the front bumper is only bolted to the fiberglass and can't take much of a hit, as my wife will tell you (she ran into it in the driveway).
I had to remove the bumper and glass a few small pieces back together and remount the bumper.

The wheels came on the car but I added the spinners. I was going back and forth on if I should replace the wheels with the finned knockoff type. I noticed that a lot of the Motion cars in old ads had these slotted mags. They are really very well made and very thick aluminum. They are heavy though. So instead of replacing what may have been original wheels I just added the spinners and bolt covers. They are not my favorite choice but I think they look period. I forgot the tire size, I'll try to remember to look tonight.

You may notice the shark tooth license plate frames courtesy of Randy, Thanks again Randy. I think they are pretty cool!
